Latinx Therapist Project Partners with MSU Denver’s Gina and Frank Day Health Institute to Host “Therapy Careers 101”
We’re proud to announce a new partnership between the Latinx Therapist Project and the Gina and Frank Day Health Institute at MSU Denver to host an exciting educational event for the community:
Therapy Careers 101: Find Your Path as a Mental Health Therapist!
MSU Denver’s Gina & Frank Day Health is leading the way in cultivating workforce development programs across 10 academic departments where they focus on workforce development, taking a whole-person approach, and supporting diversity and health equity.
They house the following programs: Colorado Access Health Career Pipeline Program, CDPHE Practice-based Health Education Grant Program, DACA/Undocumented Student Health Careers Opportunity Program, Healthcare Interest Program, Peer Health Exchange Program.
According to their website “MSU Denver’s Gina and Frank Day Health Institute develops the next generation of health-care professionals with a radically different approach to applied education. Spanning 10 academic departments, students learn alongside experts both in and out of the classroom, modeling the interdisciplinary needs of today’s in-demand healthcare industry. And at the center is access, for individuals and communities to change what health and wellness looks like.
Taking place on Wednesday, April 16th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Tivoli Student Union Room 444, this event is designed to guide participants through the different pathways to becoming a mental health therapist. We’ll explore the five core therapy specialties—Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Addiction Counselor, and Clinical Psychologist—and what it takes to pursue each path.
Attendees will also hear firsthand from Latino mental health professionals representing each specialty. These panelists will share their personal journeys into the field, offer advice, and answer questions to help aspiring therapists navigate their own career decisions.
This collaboration with the Gina and Frank Day Health Institute underscores both organizations’ shared commitment to increasing access, representation, and culturally responsive care in the mental health field. Together, we are creating opportunities for Latino individuals to explore, pursue, and thrive in meaningful careers as mental health providers.
